Seminar topic : Palm Vein Technology

Definition
An individual first rests his wrist, and on some devices, the middle of his fingers, on the sensor's supports such that the palm is held centimeters above the device's scanner, which flashes a near-infrared ray on the palm. Unlike the skin, through which near-infrared light passes, deoxygenated hemoglobin in the blood flowing through the veins absorbs near-infrared rays, illuminating the hemoglobin, causing it to be visible to the scanner. Arteries and capillaries, whose blood contains oxygenated hemoglobin, which does not absorb near-infrared light, are invisible to the sensor. The still image captured by the camera, which photographs in the near-infrared range, appears as a black network, reflecting the palm's vein pattern against the lighter background of the palm.

Seminar topic : Brain Gate

Definition
BrainGate is a brain implant system developed by the bio-tech company Cyberkinetics in 2003 in conjunction with the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University. The device was designed to help those who have lost control of their limbs, or other bodily functions, such as patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or spinal cord injury. The computer chip, which is implanted into the brain , monitors brain activity in the patient and converts the intention of the user into computer commands. Cyberkinetics describes that "such applications may include novel communications interfaces for motor impaired patients, as well as the monitoring and treatment of certain diseases which manifest themselves in patterns of brain activity, such as epilepsy and depression."

Fuzzy Logic (Seminar topic)

Introduction
In this context, FL is a problem-solving control system methodology that lends itself to implementation in systems ranging from simple, small, embedded micro-controllers to large, networked, multi-channel PC or workstation-based data acquisition and control systems. It can be implemented in hardware, software, or a combination of both. FL provides a simple way to arrive at a definite conclusion based upon vague, ambiguous, imprecise, noisy, or missing input information.

Solar Tracker (microcontroller based project)

While studying in collage I used to made four projects on solar system. But there was a problem with all of them and that was I need to change direction of my solar panels every time with change in direction of sun in sky. But now we have successfully made a project in which you no longer need to change direction manually. Your panels will get oriented towards sun automatically and get full access to sun light which you know ultimately increase your solar efficiency.

Microcontroller Based Home Security System

Home security system is the best burglar deterrent you can have. Many people don't think about security at home until it is too late and they have become victims. The prime concern of this project is to provide total security. This microcontroller based home security with password door lock system feature can also perform day and night detection, laser beam monitoring system for windows, and magnetic monitoring for doors. Aside of providing total security, this project aims to utilize the homemade circuitry and build a low cost integrated home security system. The system includes alarm system. Hence the security system will sound an alert when there is an attempt of break-in. The system is digital. It also incorporated a 7 segment display with a 4x3 keypad.

Seminar topic: Bio Battery

Definition

When a glucose solution is poured into the white cubes, the Walkman begins to play. When an isotonic drink is poured in, a propeller starts to spin. In the summer of 2007, the Sony-developed bio battery was announced in newspapers, magazines, and TV reports, and evoked a strong response. Carbohydrates (glucose) are broken down to release energy and generate electricity. This bio battery, which is based on mechanisms used in living organism, is not only friendly to the environment but also has great potential for use as an energy source.
